This is a wonderful collection. From left to right: obsidian, igneous rock, and sanukite. These are Jomon period stone tools, excavated from the same site and time. A set of three. They are thought to have been used as blades, but may also have been used as ritual objects. The land where they were excavated had a volcano, and it is believed that a wide variety of high-quality materials like these could be obtained there.
