This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It is believed to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is likely to have been used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. The touch of the hand-spun yarn is incredibly gentle, and it feels like it has been used extensively, but it is a very sturdy fabric. There are signs of patching, tears, fraying, damage, and stains, but the faded indigo is refreshing.
