It is hugely popular among young long-distance hikers in the US. The Ultralight Rain Mitt is a lightweight mitten weighing only 30g per pair. Not only is it light, but the back of the hand is made of DCF composite fabric for waterproofing, and the palm side is DCF hybrid, designed to be resistant to abrasion and less likely to tear, such as on rocks and tree branches. The back is reinforced with Dyneema tape on all seams for excellent strength. As evidenced by the recommendation of Possum Gloves as an inner layer, the HTD staff are hardcore UL enthusiasts. Of course, it is an item that follows the traditional UL mitten design, responding to the needs of hikers who adjust the thickness of the gloves inside depending on the season, such as merino wool liners.
