This is a Kamakura-bori (carved lacquerware) piece created by Toshimaya, the Kamakura confectionery company famous for Hato Sablé, as a commemorative item for its 125th anniversary (2019). The characters "豊 (Toyo - abundance)" and "鳩 (Hato - dove)" were written by the chief priest of Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine, Shigeho Yoshida, and the piece was then created by Hakokudo, a Kamakura-bori workshop, based on those characters. It is an all-Kamakura-made item. The flowing brushstrokes of the characters "Toyo" and "Hato" are expressed in a calm vermillion color characteristic of Kamakura-bori.
