These are cold-weather work boots. They have drawstrings at the opening to prevent snow from entering. I live in western Japan, and I used them for one season because it was cold and difficult to work in my winter vegetable garden. The boots appear dirty overall with soil because there were times when the field was muddy from the rain, but I have washed them with a sponge.
