Estevan's 1998 debut album is, above all, impressive for its vocals, reminiscent of his idol Aaron Hall (GUY). The ballads in the first half seem to be this artist's lifeline, but as with Aaron, his down-to-earth charm (at age 21) comes through directly in the hip numbers. However, with a cover song dedicated to Stevie and the gospel number that closes the album, his strengths seem to lie in this direction, and for someone like me, it was a very welcome album. It's also a rare record, so if you're interested, please consider it along with the 12" currently on sale.
