A red Raku cup by Raku 13th generation Sōnyū (1887-1944). There are some repairs on the rim. There is no box. It was probably made in a set of about 10 for tea ceremony use. The inside has a thick, opaque, mottled glaze. Although it is called red, the artist may have intended it to be Benishino. Raku cups are rarely seen. There are occasionally imitations. As it is an old item, there may be some scratches and stains commensurate with its age that are not particularly visible in the images.
