Takeshi Ishida (石田 雄, Ishida Takeshi, June 7, 1923 – June 2, 2021) was a Japanese political scientist and emeritus professor at the University of Tokyo. His father was Kaoru Ishida, who served as the Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture and Superintendent General of the Metropolitan Police Department. His maternal grandfather was Mitsugu Otsuka, who served as the Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture. His eldest son is Hiroshi Ishida, an emeritus professor at the University of Tokyo. His second son is Ken Ishida, a professor at Chiba University. His brother-in-law (his sister's husband) was Shunichi Suzuki, who served as the Governor of Tokyo. Born in Aomori City during his father's tenure as the Aomori Prefectural Police Chief, he was the second son of Kaoru Ishida, who held positions such as Director of the Shrine Bureau of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Superintendent General of the Metropolitan Police Department, Grand Steward of the Takamatsu Palace, and a consultant to the Imperial Household Agency. He took the entrance exam for Tokyo Imperial University after graduating from Seikei High School but failed and entered the Faculty of Law and Literature at Tohoku Imperial University. While studying there, he was drafted as a student soldier and joined the Tokyo Bay Fortress Heavy Artillery Regiment. After the war, he returned home and, through a special measure, transferred to the Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo, where he participated in the Masao Maruyama seminar. He chose to become a researcher, advised by Hyooe Ouchi and Shigeru Nanbara, who were friends of his father. He served as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo, an associate professor and professor at the Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo, a professor at the Faculty of Law and Economics at Chiba University, and a professor at Yachiyo International University.
