Thank you for viewing. Both the controller and the Plarail will have batteries inserted before shipping, so you can use them right away. As shown in the photos, there is some damage to the paper part of the controller, but there are no issues with its operation. This is a used item that a child has played with, so there are small scratches and dirt. I would be happy to sell it to someone who doesn't mind these things ^ ^
