It's a so-called TS-type circuit with a Boost that adds distortion in the front stage. It's a famous device for driving clean amps nicely. Pulling the volume knob activates the comp-cut mode, which bypasses the clipping diodes, allowing it to be used as a wide-range booster, making it suitable for pushing already distorted amps even further. It does not have the alien mark.
