This is a Yanagiba knife by Gen Kikuko. The blade length is approximately 26cm. The steel is unknown. The handle is made of black buffalo horn. It is stamped with "Saisho" (highest grade) and "Hon-tanren" (genuine forging - this is slightly faded). After removing scratches and rust, the blade has been polished to a mirror finish. There are some pitting marks on the tip of the cutting edge, but it is recommended if you don't mind. Both the flat and the cutting edge have been beautifully sharpened and polished, resulting in a nearly mirror-like finish. Overall, it is in good condition and a user-friendly size, making it recommended for both professionals and general users. The knife has been finished with a Kitayama 8000 grit stone, a Shapton 12000 grit stone, and a natural whetstone.
