The MP-690 is a representative eyewear model launched in 2000 by Masunaga Optical Co., Ltd. under the "Kazuo Kawasaki Ph.D" brand, and is currently out of production. Designed by industrial designer Kazuo Kawasaki, it was the first Japanese manufacturer to win a gold medal (Silmo d'Or) in the sunglasses category at the Silmo Paris, a global eyewear exhibition, in the same year. It is one of the series named "Anti-Tension Frame" (MP-690, 691, 662, 663), and has a mechanism that prevents the positional relationship between the lens and the pupil from changing due to frame distortion.
