This is a modified Grado SR80x. I purchased it as a long-term storage item from a specialist shop, and while the rest of the unit was in excellent condition, the headband had begun to deteriorate, and part of it peeled off during disinfection. As you know, the headbands of Grado's Prestige series are particularly prone to durability issues, so I replaced it with a cowhide headband that can withstand aging for a long time. The cushioning is slightly inferior to the original, but the wider band width actually improves the fit. The fixed cable, which is often criticized even among those who like Grado overall, has been changed to accommodate the most versatile 3.5mm dual detachable cable. I intentionally avoided using additional paint or adhesive, minimizing any sense of incongruity by using the existing Grado genuine adhesive. The internal wiring also uses the original Grado cable, and the original cable has also been modified to a 3.5mm dual cable for those who are particular about it. The SR80 series, in a sense, is the model that expresses the Grado sound identity most purely, so I haven't made any changes to the sound quality. During the testing process, I also tried changing to a wood housing, but the disadvantages outweighed the advantages more than I expected, so I decided to maintain the originality. All the parts used are highly durable, so I believe it is also ideal for long-term ownership and collection purposes. I will send it in a new, high-quality headphone case prepared specifically for it. If you wish, I will also include the headband cover used for testing the original headband, and the third-party G-pads used only for testing during the modification work. These improve spatial expression and bass at a tangible level, and you can enjoy changing the sound color simply by replacing the pads. The original box and the original headband parts are also included, but if you don't need them, I can reduce the size of the box if you let me know in advance.
