Itsuki Yakumo (Mitsuhiro Oikawa), an assistant in the folklore research lab at a university, teams up with Furano (Aya Hirayama), a student in his seminar, to tackle a number of dark and difficult cases using a folkloric approach in this unique mystery series. This work is Mitsuhiro Oikawa's first starring role in a television drama series. The places Yakumo and Furano visit for fieldwork are mountains, villages, and islands with suspicious backgrounds, related to legends, customs, and beliefs such as tengu, the feathered robe of a celestial maiden, human sacrifice, and mountain witches. Yakumo's extraordinary reasoning ability, which he uses to uncover the truth with the catchphrase "The darkness has lifted," by mobilizing his knowledge of folklore, is also a highlight, but the gap between his character and the fact that he is often criticized by Furano for being unreliable is very charming. The duo of Inspector Hane (Toru Masuoka) and Takimura (Saori Takizawa) from the First Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Department, who repeatedly make shallow guesses, are mainly in charge of the comedy role. Their lovable, useless detective antics are a fun breather.
