This is a "saki-ori" tote bag woven on a traditional loom (takahata). It was woven by tearing strips of fabric dyed with indigo dye. The varying shades of color create a wonderful woven texture. The weave is a plain weave with open spaces (akiha) to create a vertical stripe effect. The handles, bottom, and the facing of the bag opening are made of the same leather. The handles show signs of wear. (Photos 8-10) The magnetic button has some minor scratches. The color of the inner bag is closest to that in photo 5. There are some small stains on the inner bag. (Photos 11-13) (Please forgive me if I missed anything) The inner bag has a pocket, which is convenient for storing small items like cell phones that are easily lost. It can hold A4 size items. Saki-ori is often thought to be heavy, but I think this is a lightweight tote bag. I used to love using it, but I've been using shoulder bags lately, so I'm putting it up for sale.
