◆ Rare, beautiful condition! With wooden storage box, 1883 (Meiji 16)! Glass plate wet-collodion photograph "Mr. Ito and Mr. Nakagawa" Photo studio in Nagoya Park, 79mm high, 58mm wide, 2mm thick. ■ Purchased around 1990 at a used bookstore in Kanda. (It cost about 30,000 yen.) ■ The oldest photo studio in Nagoya existed around 1875. On the front of the wooden storage box, it says "Photograph taken in the park, April, Meiji 16th year," and on the back, "Yoshimichi Ito, 26th year, month, Tanejiro Nakagawa, September, 8th year," and on the bottom, "Tanejiro Nakagawa, 4-chome, Egawa-cho, Nagoya Ward, Owner." Also, since only the wealthy could afford to have their photos taken at the time, Mr. Yoshimichi Ito is thought to be a descendant of the Ito Gofuku store (currently: Matsuzakaya (Nagoya)). In addition, there is an illegible red seal on the top side of the storage box. ■ 【Condition】 The wet-collodion photograph is in beautiful condition with no noticeable damage. The wooden storage box is missing both sides of the top lid.
