Inspired by this Casablanca, the prestigious Edo woodblock doll maker, Mataro Ningyo, has created this Hina doll decoration. This is a modern piece that combines a Western aesthetic with the pure splendor of white Casablanca. The pure white costumes use silk with a sayagata pattern. Gold threads and pale purple peeking through the layered sleeves add color. The sleeves are subtly adorned with arabesque patterns using raised gesso, which requires advanced techniques. Instead of a fan or a hand, they hold white flowers, the same as the costumes, and the flowers on both sides are decorated with gold and silver leaves and pearl-like ornaments, keeping it Western-style. The screen is sandblasted with large Casablanca flowers, giving it a light impression. While the colors are kept to a minimum overall, the gorgeousness and elegance unique to Hina doll decorations can be felt, a magnificent workmanship.
