Approximately 18cm tall (approximately 16cm without the lid), approximately 16-17cm wide. (Slight variations depending on the location. Please allow for some margin of error.) Thank you for viewing. This is a wonderful piece by the renowned 13th generation Sakaida Deika, a master of Hagi ware. This special piece was created with the painstaking process of applying glaze and firing, then removing the glaze layer on the exterior. His son, Keizo Sakaida, also creates tea bowls and flower vases in a similar style. The interior appears chipped around the rim due to the removal of the glaze, but this is likely a result of the manufacturing process. Please check the photos. The peeled surface may appear rough in the photos, but in reality, the touch of the body is wonderfully smooth and pleasant to the touch. The matte surface has color variations from pink to orange and gray, giving it an atmosphere rarely seen in other works. The lacquered lid appears to have been custom-made for this mizusashi (water container), with a textured grain and a perfect fit for the warped shape. However, there are some scratches. The paulownia wood box is also elaborate, with supports on all four sides of the interior and a two-tiered structure to store the lacquered lid. There is a small gap at the bottom. As this is a piece that has aged over time, there may be some scratches and minor imperfections. Also, as it is a unique piece, please be aware that there may be kiln marks that cannot be fully explained. Thank you for your understanding.
