This is a tall vase from Scheurich, a famous West German Art Pottery workshop, made in the mid-century period of the 1950s-60s. The body color is somewhere between beige and sand. The inside is a subdued dark green/blue. The texture is matte and rough. Scheurich was founded in 1928 in Schneeberg, a town about an hour's drive from Frankfurt, Germany, by Alois Scheurich and Fridolin Greulich as a wholesaler of glassware and pottery. In 1938, the company moved to Kleinheubach, a town in Bavaria, where Scheurich still has its headquarters. Around 1948, Alois wanted to make his own ceramics, and in 1954, he closed the wholesale business and established his own factory.
