This is a set of two shikishi (Japanese square paperboard for calligraphy and painting) featuring Zen phrases, suitable for use in the tea ceremony: "Ichigo Ichie" and "Seifu Meigetsu." ◎ "Ichigo Ichie" (一期一会) means "treasure every moment, for it will never recur," a principle of the tea ceremony. It is a well-known Zen phrase that symbolizes the spirit of the tea ceremony. This artwork is a unique, hand-written piece that I created with great care. I focused on "refreshment and change," giving individuality to the flow of the brush and the shades of ink. I also paid attention to the balance of the blank space, creating a sense of tranquility and elegance. As a phrase that can be used throughout the year, it is perfect for decorating a Japanese-style room or as a hanging scroll for a tea ceremony. "Seifu Meigetsu" (清風明月) means "clear wind and bright moon," a Zen phrase that represents the tranquility of the mind and harmony with nature. This refreshing phrase is also a seasonal word suitable for tea ceremonies and hanging scrolls in Japanese-style rooms during **summer to early autumn (July to September)**.
