Few railway enthusiasts are aware that "Kanazawa-Hakkei," the Keikyu Zushi Line's branching station, takes its name from a scenic spot that actually existed. This is a photo book of the exhibition catalog from the special exhibition "Loved Kanazawa Hakkei," held at Kanazawa Bunko (a prefectural art museum, not a station) in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, at the end of the Heisei era. The exhibition featured a collection of local private collectors. The images mainly introduce railway-related items, but also include many picture postcards and old paintings. The latter half of the book is filled with pre-war guides and tourist brochures from the Keihin Electric Railway and Shonan Electric Railway eras of the Keihin Kyuko Line, as well as railway tickets and commemorative tickets. This is a vast collection for a private individual, and there is almost no opportunity for such a collection of railway materials to be gathered in one place. Also included are guide maps and brochures of Yokosuka, which flourished as a naval port of the Japanese Empire. The top section features Kanazawa Hakkei depicted by Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige, a phantom Hiroshige art collection, and other collections of paintings of Kanazawa Hakkei from the Edo period to the Meiji period. The collection of old picture postcards, which reflect the lost scenery of the local Kanazawa Ward, is very valuable. You can see the fishing village era of Tomioka (Keikyu), Sugita, Asahina with its cutting, Isogo Ward's Negishi along the coast, and the scenic spots of Kanazawa Hakkei, which have now completely disappeared.
