[Profile] Mr. Motoro Kanashige was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1945, as the fourth son of Living National Treasure Toyo Kanashige. In 1968, he graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Industrial Design, specializing in craft and industrial design. In 1993, he created and fired pottery at Ryugo-gama kiln (the workshop of Mr. Atsushi Kawakita, the grandson of Mr. Handeishi Kawakita). In 1999, he was a panelist at the Musashino Art University Regional Forum "Art & Design." In 2001, he moved to Misugi Village, Ichishi District, Mie Prefecture, and the following year built an anagama kiln with self-made sun-dried bricks. In 2003, he fired unglazed works using Iga clay.
