I unraveled a Meisen kimono and made a long skirt. The original kimono was in very good condition. (Photos 12, 13, 14) Since Meisen can fade when washed with water, I only performed high-temperature sterilization with an iron. The base is a gentle salmon pink with gray ball-like patterns. The kasuri patterns and star patterns within the ovals are very cute. The fabric has a moderate sheen and the characteristic crispness of Meisen is lovely. It shines orange depending on the viewing angle. I added three long tucks in the front and three in the back to control the volume. Although it has plenty of gathers, the tucks make the waist and hip area look neat. I enjoy sewing that only uses straight stitches. I remake old kimonos, obi, and furoshiki such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon. Please consider this if you understand that there may be remaining threads, small holes, stains from used items, distortions, double stitching, etc. * Please avoid washing as much as possible. After wearing, hang it on a hanger and let it breathe. * Items other than the skirt are for photography purposes. * No lining is attached. Please use a petticoat when wearing.
