Blue China is a collection featuring a small-pattern design based on actual porcelain designs created during the Meiji era. These porcelain designs, all rendered in blue, are in the traditional Fukagawa style, yet are charmingly designed. This is a sandwich tray from the popular Blue China collection. During a time when Western culture and Western tableware rapidly spread in Japan, square plates were easy to arrange, and were used as Western-style dishes for serving light meals such as sandwiches, biscuits, and cakes.
