The Kita school (Roppeita Kita) is said to have produced masters since its inception, and its members have been honored with the Japan Art Academy membership, the Order of Culture, and the title of Living National Treasure (officially, Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Properties). The Kita school has a slightly shorter history than other schools and is somewhat smaller, but it has produced four Living National Treasures. Noh has a long history as a ceremonial music for the samurai class, and within it, the Kita school is particularly known for its samurai spirit, its simple yet bold style, and its powerful performance that can be felt even from a distance. This book is a text of the Noh performance. A "yo-hon" (chant book) records the lyrics (words) of Noh performances and includes musical notation to indicate the melody. Unlike the "noh-bon" (Noh script), which is the performance script, it is more of a training book for learning the chanting. It is made using the traditional Japanese "wazhiji" binding method, where paper is layered and bound together. It is a set of 15 books, including "Atsumori," and all 15 books are from the Taisho era.
