A series issued to commemorate the 1985 approach of Halley's Comet. Unused. I collected these as an elementary school student, and while I didn't understand much at the time, I've noticed some interesting points while listing them for sale. First, these six stamps have the same design, but the pink background is from Sierra Leone, and the light blue background is from Antigua and Barbuda. I suspect that these countries were issuing stamps for collectors to earn money, and they outsourced the work haphazardly. Therefore, the same company may have created stamps for different countries. I've found that other Halley's Comet series with the same background were issued by other countries. Another point is the design related to the theme of Halley's Comet, including an observatory, a mural depicting the comet's approach in ancient times, and the Space Shuttle as part of space development. However, what's intriguing is the red airplane. This is the Messerschmitt Me163, nicknamed "Komet," developed by Nazi Germany. It is the only practical rocket-powered fighter aircraft in aviation history. "Komet" means "comet" in German, so I suppose it was included here, but the subject matter is too niche, and it feels a bit far from the theme of Halley's Comet. It's amusing to imagine the company that was asked to create Halley's Comet stamps for various countries struggling to come up with ideas. I will package them together in a clear bag (plastic bag) and ship them via regular mail (standard size). I am also listing other foreign stamps.
