This is a No. 303Z drum clock, "SANKYO ZAX" by Sankyo Seiki, highly popular among fans of Showa-era retro appliances. It has been maintained and is in perfect working order. This drum clock is from Sankyo Seiki Co., Ltd. (SANKYO ZAX), which is now Nidec Instruments Corporation. It has a retro-futuristic appearance and a very distinctive feature: a softly illuminated dial with a backlight. I acquired it as a hobby, but after enjoying it as part of my collection for a while, I no longer need it, so I am putting it up for sale. This item would likely still be popular even if sold in the Reiwa era. It is occasionally traded on Yahoo! Auctions and Mercari, but unfortunately, this type of SANKYO drum clock from this era has a typical problem: the pinion gear (made of plastic) in the motor completely deteriorates and stops working. That's why many non-working or junk items are listed. This item had a relatively clean appearance when I acquired it, but the pinion gear was, as expected, completely shattered and the clock was not working. This item is almost 50 years old, and of course, replacement parts are not available. However, I obtained a gear with the same outer diameter and number of teeth as the shattered gear, processed it, and installed it to revive the clock. I tested its operation, and it works perfectly without any deviation. Since the weak pinion gear has also been replaced, it should likely function without problems for a long time to come.
