These teacups feature a beautiful silver glaze on a black glaze. They are made using the glaze-under-silver technique, where a transparent glaze is applied over the silver glaze and fired. Kutani ware silver glaze is said to be a very luxurious technique, made with a thickness about 7 times that of regular silver foil. These teacups also have a shimmering silver glaze that feels thick. In particular, the teacups have a luxurious design with silver glaze applied all the way around the body. The transparent glazes applied to each cup (a refreshing blue/light ultramarine and a calm, slightly purplish red/beni-aka) create a soft gradation, and the fine cracks unique to pottery create a deep landscape. Also, the black glaze around the rim seems to prevent staining from tea and other substances. It's a functional beauty that doesn't detract from the appearance of the mouth and further enhances the brilliance of the silver glaze ^_^. * The color may look slightly different depending on the lighting and natural light.
