It is a tribal rug from the Baluch people residing in Herat province, Afghanistan. Originally, it was a bag-like outer skin called a "barlisht" used to store household items, which has been repurposed into a rug. Woven tightly with a short pile, this rug has a solid texture. It would be useful as an entrance mat, in front of a chest of drawers, or even as a kitchen mat due to its color, which doesn't easily show dirt. Despite its thickness, it has a smooth feel underfoot and can be used year-round. As a vintage rug, it is approximately 40 years old, but since it was originally a bag, it doesn't show much wear and tear. It is in mint condition with no noticeable stains or damage, and no repairs. It can be described as an accent rug with a design that is not too flashy.
