He is credited with being the first in Japan to successfully produce porcelain (white porcelain), laying the foundation for Arita ware. He naturalized and was given the Japanese name "Kanegae Sanbei." Succession of the Kanegae Family: The name "Kanegae Sanbei" has been passed down through generations, with the 13th generation, as a direct descendant of Ri Sampei, taking on the important role of reviving the lost kiln. 13th Generation Yoshito Kanegae: Born in 1920, he passed away in 2017 at the age of 96. As a direct descendant of Ri Sampei, he carried on his legacy, continuing to protect the pottery industry in Arita. Revival of the "To-so Ri Sampei Kiln": He revived the kiln, which had been discontinued after the fourth generation, in 1976, passing on its traditions to the present day. In other words, "13th Generation Kanegae" refers to the head of the Arita ware kiln (Ri Sampei Kiln), who is a descendant of the pottery ancestor Ri Sampei.
