This item was stored in its box after being purchased new. Originally intended for a Sharp microwave oven. Not for direct fire. The surface is smooth, but there are lines on the bottom and inside, similar to those found on earthenware pots. The original box is damaged, but I think it's safe, so I will include it and pack the item with recycled materials for shipping.
