Analog Record: MJQ & Laurindo Almeida Collaboration The Modern Jazz Quartet Laurindo Almeida is a guitar virtuoso, and I've previously listed several of his records. This album has a classical atmosphere reminiscent of MJQ's Bach. This album is from 1966, a time when Coltrane and Miles were at their peak on the East Coast. In that context, this collaboration between MJQ and LA is a superb, or rather, a masterpiece. It features excellent bossa nova performances and LA's rendition of "Aranjuez." I'd even say it's a hidden gem. Honestly, I think it deserves more recognition, personally. This is an Atlantic US pressing, with a green and orange label. I highly recommend it to fans of MJQ and LA. The price fluctuates a lot, but since it's a US pressing, I've set it at a middle-ground price. #BonboriJazzRecords ^_^ This record was purchased and stored by me about 40 years ago.
