I used to collect this item, and although I didn't use it very often, the synthetic leather on the headband and ear pads has started to peel off due to being stored for several years. There is also some slight dirt, so I'm selling it at a low price. The hard parts are relatively clean. I've been using wireless headphones lately, so my SRH1540 has been sitting unused, but it has my favorite sound quality of all the SHURE headphones. I checked the operation before listing it, and the sound quality is still amazing.
