They have elaborate hand-carved cuts, and the transparent stems and cut glass patterns sparkle beautifully when they catch the light. When you tap the rim, they make a high-pitched sound characteristic of crystal. The design seems to be similar to those found in Germany or the Czech Republic. The drinking part of the glass is similar to those of Val Saint Lambert, but my family remembers them as glasses made by a famous Hungarian craftsman. I am not very knowledgeable about crystal, I apologize. There is no box, but there are no visible scratches, so if you prepare a box and wrap them, they would make a wonderful gift for wedding celebrations or housewarmings.
