This is a richly expressive rectangular Duan inkstone (approximately 8 inches) featuring a carved Taotie (饕餮) design and displaying tortoiseshell patterns, blue veins, and gold lines. It is an antique, dating back over 50 years. As such, there are some ink stains and scratches, but the grinding surface is good, and I feel it is a fine inkstone that is easy to use for kana and kanji works, as well as for practical use.
