I received this item from a private individual. It was kept at their parents' house and appears to have been hardly used. There is no original box, so I cannot verify the place of production, but it is likely Wajima or Aizu lacquerware. It has a retro design. There is a divider inside. It's a beautiful chopsticks box in vermilion and black lacquer. The size is 26cm long, 5.5cm wide, and 3cm high. The shape is like a kamaboko (fish cake), slightly rounded. There are no signs of lacquer peeling, scratches, or chips; it's in excellent condition. There are a few spots where the lacquer is slightly raised. Although it's not a high-end, one-of-a-kind piece by an artisan, it can be used as a small item case or an accessory box, in addition to a chopsticks box. I think the luster will increase if you wipe it with a softer cloth. There is one spot with a different color, like a stain, which I have shown in the photos. Since it is a used item, I do not recommend purchasing it if you are concerned about minor details. It would be helpful if you could comment before purchasing so I can confirm availability. It is made of wood, and Chinese lacquer is not used. It is not dishwasher safe. Please wash it quickly with lukewarm water and store it after drying it thoroughly. The gold leaf is still beautiful without any peeling. Due to its size, it was probably sold as a souvenir at a lacquerware specialty store rather than for everyday use.
