It is a "ton sui" (small bowl) with a transparent white base characteristic of Arita ware, decorated with indigo butterflies and petals, and comes with a matching renge (spoon). It's a small bowl type with a small handle, making it ideal for individual servings of hot pot dishes and zosui (rice soup), as it's less likely to feel hot. It can also be used as a small bowl for simmered dishes, or as a container for soup, salad, or cereal. It can also be used as a pitcher for sauces and dressings. It seems like it could also be used as a "katakuchi" (small bowl with a spout) by using the handle as a spout. With its simple design and renge, it can be used for Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine, and it seems to be useful to have just one. Unfortunately, the mark on the back cannot be read. (See photo 10) There is no mention of use with IH, microwave ovens, or dishwashers, so please judge from the photos.
