This is the text of "Title: Heishin Hatsuboku by Fusetsu" (題丙辰潑墨), a poem written by Natsume Soseki for his friend Fusetsu Nakamura's publication "Heishin Hatsuboku" in 1916 (Taisho 5). It is included in Volume 18 of the Iwanami Shoten Complete Works of Soseki. The original work is handwritten on paper and bears two seals: "Hi Nichi No Kore" and "Soseki." Both are in the collection of the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature, and their dimensions, imprints, and usage period match this work (refer to the Museum's Natsume Soseki Digital Archive). The brushstrokes are confirmed by comparing them to "Heishin Hatsuboku" published on the NDL Digital Library website. Since the published version includes the line "Koko Garan Kō Mansen," this work was written before the publication in August. The paper shows signs of aging but is beautifully mounted. Only the top part of the paper is glued, preserving it as it was originally. The frame is a wooden frame with protruding wooden parts at the top and bottom of the backboard, inserted into recesses inside the frame and secured with screws from the four sides of the frame. The backboard is covered with patterned fabric, a testament to the careful craftsmanship of Showa-era artisans. The frame shows signs of aging. Finally, the "Hi Nichi No Kore" seal was used by Soseki for works that were subject to revision. This work conveys Soseki's thoughts as he experimented before presenting it to Fusetsu. If you have any questions or requests for images, please comment, and I will respond. I have confirmed both the brushstrokes and the seals. Although it is a genuine work, it is listed as a copy to prevent any issues. Returns are not accepted after purchase.
