The hardness is selected and used from 13 to 18 (slightly hard to slightly soft) on the Reeds'n Stuff hardness scale. To minimize changes after finishing, the reeds are made over a period of about two months from assembly to finishing. During finishing, the reeds are scraped to ensure that the "p" articulation responds without problems and that a wide range from low to high notes can be played with good balance, from "p" to "f".
