Based on the real-life musician Dave Van Ronk, who influenced even Bob Dylan, the film depicts the restless wandering of a struggling folk singer as he searches for his place in the world. The talented brothers, J&E Coen, depict this with a subdued touch, suppressing their usual quirky style. O. Isaac, who was selected for his first leading role, along with C. Mulligan from "The Great Gatsby" and J. Timberlake, the prince of pop, showcase a wonderful ensemble of singing and acting. It won the Grand Prix at the 66th Cannes Film Festival.
