Sculptor Sotaro Saegusa (1911-2006) was born in Shodoshima, Kagawa Prefecture. After graduating from the Sculpture Department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in 1935, he served as a teacher in the Ceramics Department of Yokkaichi Municipal Commercial and Industrial School in Mie Prefecture, while also being active in exhibitions such as Nitten and the Shin-Kozo-sha Exhibition. From 1970, he served as an assistant professor and professor at Nagoya University of Arts. This is an antique piece, so the remaining items are rare!! The wooden box is also quite hard to find.
