While "Summer Story" took place from summer to autumn, this "Autumn Story" is set in the season from autumn to winter. The exquisite interactions between Sanma Akashiya and Shinobu Otake, which were popular in the previous work, are still present, but this work expresses deeper emotions such as loneliness, adult circumstances, and frustration, emphasizing the serious side of this drama that matches the season. Only Tsurutaro Kataoka as Teikuro continues from "Summer Story," but Masashi Yamashita, who plays a pure-hearted, athletic man, and Yumiko Okayasu, who plays a coquettish woman, have charming and fresh date scenes reminiscent of elementary school romance, giving a light rhythm to this otherwise somber drama.
