CD playback is not possible with the included cord. (I will still include the cord if you purchase it, but since I am not an expert, I would appreciate it if you could check it yourself.) Also, it is possible to use 4 AA batteries inside to play CDs, and when used with 4 batteries, the music can be heard sufficiently. Also, there are no operating instructions, but I will include a copy of the PDF I downloaded from the HP.
