Although it's been managed by an amateur, I've applied beeswax wax once every few months, and I've always made sure it doesn't run empty, so there shouldn't be any problems like cracks or leaks. However, there are some stains (see photos). The only whiskeys I've used so far are Black Nikka and Torys, and I haven't used any strong-flavored liquors.
