Many people have seen leis made by connecting black fruits, but in Hawaii, the fruit's oil is also used for lamps and torches. It is also designated as the "State Tree" of Hawaii. Black fruits are often seen, but flowers are rarely seen. Small, five-petaled white flowers bloom in clusters. The top base fabric is 110cm x 110cm, LUSTER24. The dark brown for the motifs is Cosmo Textile LUSTER 115. In the center, place white fabric, Cosmo Textile AD8080-OW, underneath and sew the five-petaled flowers using reverse applique. Cuts have been made, but basting first will prevent the fabric from being folded, so use pins to secure them in place and sew them in as you go. Similarly, round kukui fruits are placed in the center. Motifs are pre-cut and basted. The batting is from Nippon Vilene Co., Ltd., KS-811S. The border fabric is prepared at 110cm x 53cm. You can divide it into four parts for a picture frame decoration, or cut it on the bias for edging. Three colors of sewing thread are included. A copy with reference quilt lines is included. The top will be rolled up lengthwise to prevent damage during shipping. A large Monstera-patterned bag is used for the center of the roll. You can carry all the materials together while you are working on it.
