I used them on top of cots, so there are no noticeable stains on either the outer or inner tents. I haven't done any campfires, so there is no campfire smell or holes. (I think it's a beautiful item, with the original smell from when I bought it.) I haven't used this tent for it, but it can be used without worrying about the condition of the grass or ground, so it might be recommended for those who don't want to get it too dirty or want it to be easy to clean (^_^;) Also, it's made of double-sided silnylon, so it's lightweight and has the feature of hardly deteriorating, which is recommended. By the way, I used a VENTLAX normal size cot, and I thought it was just the right size. The dedicated ground sheet also has no campfire smell or tears.
