This is an unidentified fukuro obi (formal obi) I received from a relative. It shows signs of having been worn, and there are creases from long-term storage. It's a high-class, six-panel obi with an elegant gold background and a gorgeous design of Shosoin-style arabesque and floral patterns woven in vibrant colors. The delicate design woven with white, pink, and blue threads is beautiful, and it's a versatile piece that will be useful for formal occasions when paired with a visiting kimono or a plain-colored kimono. There is a Kawashima Textile mark (see page 7), and a Kawashima Textile label remains on the inside of the obi (see page 8). Kawashima Textile is a long-established, high-end Japanese textile brand founded in Kyoto in 1843 by Jinbei Kawashima I. Although the obi has been worn a few times, it is firmly woven and I believe it is still usable. Also, please note that the inside edge of the obi is not hemmed (see page 9). Kawashima Textile obis are high-end items, but considering the above, I intend to set the price low.
