This is a ryuteki (Japanese flute) I purchased about 20 years ago from a gagaku (traditional Japanese court music) class. I am selling it because there are no places to take lessons at my new address. I bought it from the teacher at the class for about 100,000 yen at the time. I seem to remember being told that it was made by a craftsman in Kyoto, made of smoked bamboo, and that the cicada-shaped part had insect damage, but I cannot say for sure as I have no proof of its origin. The finger holes are not large, but it might be a little difficult for a woman with slender fingers to use the little finger. [Please Note] I have occasionally applied oil to it, but there is a thin crack about 10 cm long on the center of the underside of the finger holes. It does not reach inside the tube, but please be aware that it may need to be repaired in the future. [With Storage Case] A dedicated storage case is included to protect the instrument, making it convenient for carrying and storage. I believe the wooden case is made of cherry wood.
