[Material] Fuji Hinoki single board ✩ One corner is beveled for easier lifting. [Good Points] ✩ We believe that a cutting board is best [unpainted], so we've finished it with a hand plane as a surface treatment to achieve this. The chamfered parts are also finished using well-sharpened blades. First, it's planed, then wetted with water to raise the grain, and then planed again after drying, minimizing the grain raising caused by water exposure during use. Also, the end grain, which is usually difficult to plane, is also finished with a plane. This allows water to drain away in the shortest amount of time without causing grain raising or sanding scratches, minimizing the deterioration of the wood due to water absorption. ✩ We predict the direction in which the wood will warp and consider the blade contact, slightly shaping it with an R-shape to match the wood's individual characteristics. This is a technique that can only be done by hand planing. ✩ We do not use [sandpaper] at all in the production of the cutting board, so there is no worry about the remaining abrasive particles damaging the knife or ingesting sanding dust. ✩ The rough sandpaper finish often seen recently, which appears smooth at first glance, becomes slippery when wet.
