This is a summer tea utensil created by Sen no Rikyu using hinoki cypress wood with a straight grain, employing iron nails, and developed as a tea ceremony tool. It is an elegant masterpiece that allows one to enjoy the "scenery" created by the wood absorbing water, and is used for drawing sacred "famous water" at the Meisu-ten (drawing of famous water ceremony).
